The EV market is not only making its strides in the consumer segment but also the commercial segment. Euler Motors is one such brand that has already launched their commercial EVs in the market. We speak to Gaurav Kumar, Head of Supply Chain and Manufacturing, to get some insights on the background of the company and their future plans.

As a brand, Euler Motors is designing EVs for India, from India – to enable a superior customer experience and lead the transition to EVs in the commercial segment. Euler Motors has taken a lead in EV three-wheeler cargo segment innovation, with its full stack ecosystem and approach. Our unique proposition is to build powerful EVs that can easily replace ICE vehicles in the category and develop robust charging and service infrastructure that allows people to drive our vehicles conveniently. Understanding the requirements of the market in India, we have incorporated liquid cooling technology in our battery packs which allows the vehicle to withstand ambient temperatures and offer a long-lasting battery life, and optimum performance.

Last year, we launched Euler HiLoad EV, a market differentiator in the three-wheeler cargo segment, with the highest in industry load capacity of 688 kg, on road range of more than 150 km powered by a 12.4 KwH liquid cooled battery. The vehicle comes with four different types of charging options, including charge on wheels and telematics support for remote fleet management.

Euler Motors has focused on quality design and development to roll out vehicles that caters to Indian customer needs. From alternate sourcing, volumetric reduction and indigenization and localization, Euler Motors has been operating to optimize product quality and cost reduction, to ensure 100% output levels at a lesser capital expenditure.

To address the brand’s expansion, a new production facility with advanced and semi-automatic state-of-the-art shop floor is coming up in NCR. We are a brand focused on sustainability and will have multiple green manufacturing and design process incorporated in our new shop floor.

Euler Motors is making EVs for India, from India – to address the needs of the Indian customer. We have invested in developing long-term partnerships with domestic components manufacturers to create world-class EVs, and chargers. With this, we have achieved over 90% localisation in our vehicles. Our dependence on imports is primarily for cells which are not available in the country.

Euler Motors is rapidly expanding its retail network, with retail showrooms live in NCR already. We are looking to expand our retail footprint aggressively in regions beyond NCR now. In this year, Euler Motors will expand its footprint in 12 new markets including delivery hubs like Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, among others. These market expansions will span across the next 18 months with the company’s aim to capture around 20-30% market share by 2025.

We are a company that is committed to developing a robust EV ecosystem, and we intend to continue expanding our charging infrastructure as we enter new markets and establish new EV hubs. Our extensive full stack ecosystem approach combines our high-powered HiLoad EV along with a presence of 500+ charging infra points. We also have introduced four different types of charging solutions, including DC fast charging which means allows fast charging, and charge on wheels- that brings fast charging to the driver and address range anxiety. Further, Euler Motors’ charging hub offers two types of DC chargers – Flash 27 & Flash 6, which connects to the onboard DC charging point to the vehicle.

While the primary supply chain to build vehicles exists, battery cell production is yet to be localised in India. The government, in partnership with private players, should focus on building a robust indigenous EV ecosystem, including cells. Semiconductors is one such segment as they form the prime component for EV batteries and perhaps, now is the right time to put in efforts to localise these in India. Incentivising battery manufacturing and cell production needs to kickstart with more focus on quality, packaging, and design.

At Euler Motors, we have been working with suppliers from day one from the R&D stage to localise our components and design EVs from India, for India. We do not retrofit, we have built our products from ground up, with a localised component, supply chain and partnerships and have already achieved 90% of localisation in our EVs.
